Privacy Policy

Sunset has no account system, no analytics, and no advertising trackers. Nothing is sold.

Location

With your permission, the app takes one approximate location fix when it opens. The coordinates are rounded to about a kilometre and sent to the Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com) to fetch the cloud forecast for your area and for points about 80 km to the west and east. The app also passes the rounded coordinates to your phone's built-in place-name lookup (Apple's on iPhone, the Android geocoder on Android, which may ask Google) to show a town name. Your coordinates are stored only on your device, in the app's own storage, so the Home Screen widget and background refresh can update the forecast, and they are never sent anywhere else. There is no background location tracking and the app never asks for precise location.

Weather data

Forecasts come from Open-Meteo, an open weather API. The request carries rounded coordinates and nothing that identifies you. Open-Meteo's own privacy terms apply to that request.

Notifications

Sunset alerts are scheduled on your device from the downloaded forecast. No push server is involved.

Purchases

Sun+ purchases are handled by Apple (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android), and by RevenueCat, which validates receipts. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and the purchase record, and nothing about your location or alerts. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

Changes to this policy are posted on this page with a new effective date.
