Baby Docs is an iPhone app for keeping track of the paperwork that follows
a birth: the Social Security card, the birth certificate, health plan
enrollment, parental leave and so on. It tells you what applies to your
household, when each window closes, and which official office issues each
thing.
Everything works on your iPhone with no account. An account exists for one
reason, which is sharing the same plan with the other parent.
The one thing we do not collect
Baby Docs never asks for, stores or transmits a Social Security
number, for your child or for you. The app tracks whether the
number has been requested and whether the card has arrived. It has no
field for the number itself, and the one-page summary you can share never
prints one. If you type a number into a free-text note, it is stored and
synced as ordinary text like any other note, so please do not.
What is stored on your iPhone
Your child's first name, date of birth, the state and county the birth
was registered in, and whether the Social Security card and birth
certificate have arrived.
Your household answers: the state you live in, how the family is
covered, whether the parents are married, and which optional things
(passport, 529, parental leave) you want on the list.
The generated plan: each task, its deadline, which documents you have
gathered, who it is assigned to, and any confirmation or tracking
numbers you choose to record.
Any notes you write.
The local database is encrypted at rest by iOS until the first unlock
after the phone boots.
What leaves your iPhone, and when
Nothing, unless you sign in and set up a shared family. Until then there
is no account, no server copy, and no network request carrying anything
you have entered.
If you do share, then from that point:
The plan above is copied to our database (hosted by Supabase, in the
United States) so the other parent's iPhone can read it.
Your display name, taken from Sign in with Apple. If you use Apple's
private relay address, we never see your real one.
A device token, if you turn on deadline reminders, so a reminder can be
delivered.
Your purchase status, handled by RevenueCat. We never see a card number
or any payment detail; Apple handles the transaction.
Who can see it
The people in your family, and nobody else. Access is enforced by
row-level security in the database, not only by the app.
Organizer and parent can see and change
everything in their own family.
Helper can see the plan and what is outstanding, and
cannot change it.
Nobody outside your family can see anything in it.
A full copy stays on each iPhone, so the plan opens with no network. That
is deliberate: the moment you most need to know which three documents the
clerk is about to ask for is while you are standing at the counter.
What we do not do
No advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party trackers.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
We do not file, submit or transmit any government, tax, insurance or
legal form on your behalf. The app links you to the official page and
you file it yourself.
We do not read, hold or connect to your health records, your insurance
account, your bank or any government account.
Children
Baby Docs is for parents, and is not directed at children. The information
it holds about a child is the small set listed above, entered by that
child's own parent.
Deleting things
Delete a child, a task or a note in the app and it is removed from your
family's copy everywhere.
Settings → Delete account removes your account and your membership.
If you are the organizer and someone else is in the family, the family
passes to them; if you are the last member, the family and its plan are
deleted.
Deleting the app removes the copy on that iPhone. If you shared, delete
your account first, or the shared copy stays.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export (the one-page summary shares as plain text)
and delete everything the app holds, from inside the app, without asking
us. If you would rather we did it, email the address below.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can
see it, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
