Streaks App Alternatives for iPhone and Apple Watch
Best if you like the to-do style of Streaks and want Health-linked tasks: Streaks itself, a paid download with no subscription. Best free option with a simple grid: HabitKit. Best for logging habits from Apple Health, Strava and Screen Time: Habitify, with that integration in its Pro tier. Best for a workout streak that allows rest days: Gentler Streak. Best for streaks found in your existing Health history with no check-ins: Fitness Habit Tracker: Auto, the app I make.
How we compared (October 13, 2026): I read each app's US App Store listing and pulled its rating, rating count, supported devices, purchase types and last update from Apple's store data. I did not install or subscribe to the other apps, so what I say about them comes from their own listings. Fitness Habit Tracker: Auto's entry comes from its code and listing. Prices are left out on purpose, because they vary by region and change.
Disclosure: Jack Wallner makes Fitness Habit Tracker: Auto, one of the apps below, so read its entry with that in mind.

The apps, one by one
Streaks
The original, and an Apple Design Award winner per its listing. You track up to 24 tasks a day, and tasks linked to the Health app, such as steps, complete on their own. It has an Apple Watch app with complications, iPad and Mac support, iCloud sync, negative tasks for breaking bad habits and timed tasks. It has the most ratings in this group. The trade-offs: it is a paid download, there is no free tier to try, and most habits outside Health still need a tap each day.
Habit Tracker - HabitKit
HabitKit shows each habit as a grid of tiles, one per day, which is the main reason people pick it. Its listing says it is free with up to four habits, including streaks, statistics, notes and reminders, with no account, no ads and offline use. Pro adds unlimited habits and home screen widgets, as a monthly, yearly or lifetime purchase. The trade-off: the listing names iPhone only, with no Apple Watch app, and every habit is logged by hand.
Habitify: Habit Tracker
Habitify mixes manual habits with automatic logging from Apple Health, Fitbit, Strava and Screen Time, so a walk or a run can tick itself off. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and adds mood, notes, a timer and challenges. The trade-off: per its listing, the Apple Health and app integrations are part of Habitify Pro, and its rating is the lowest of the five.
Gentler Streak Workout Tracker
Gentler Streak is a fitness app first. Its streak follows how active you are and lets you mark illness, injury or vacation without guilt, and it adds readiness, sleep analysis, workout tracking on Apple Watch and suggested workouts. Its listing cites a 2024 Apple Design Award and 2022 Apple Watch App of the Year. The trade-off: it is built around activity and recovery, so habits such as reading or journaling are outside its scope.
Fitness Habit Tracker: Auto (my app)
This app reads your Apple Health history (read-only, on your device) and finds the streaks you already have in steps, exercise minutes, stand hours, workouts, sleep, mindful minutes and more, daily or weekly. There is nothing to check off, and it starts from your past data instead of day one. Free: three tracked streaks, a 7pm nudge for your top streak, widgets and the Apple Watch app, with no account. Its limits are real: it can only track what Apple Health records, so manual habits such as reading are out; the calendar heatmap, unlimited streaks and Grace Days are in the paid Streaks+; there is no iPad app; and it has no ratings yet.
Which should you pick?
- You want the classic to-do habit list, Health-linked tasks and no subscription: Streaks.

- Your main habit is working out and you want rest days built in: Gentler Streak.
- You already wear an Apple Watch and want your activity turned into streaks with zero logging: Fitness Habit Tracker: Auto.
