12/30/17

Sick day. First time in awhile that I’ve been sick. Better to have it happen now while on my break than for it to be during the school season. Seems like it’s just a one day thing, which is good.

UW lost to Penn State today and the final score of 35-28 made it seem closer than it felt. The Pac-12 went 1-8 in bowl games, which is just atrocious. Bowl games seem like a decent way to measure the strength of a conference because they are farely even matchups. Clearly the Pac-12 was not up to par this year.

Season 4 of Black Mirror is out. I’m a few episodes in and so far they’ve been pretty good. It seems like sometimes they try to make a quality episode and other times they get attached to some dystopian technology and try to build an episode around that. The nice part about that is if the episode is lacking, usually the way they use technology is interesting enough to make it worthwhile.

We’re at record highs for REQ!

I wonder if someone has done a writeup of how athletes perform while they have “flu-like symptoms”. Baker Mayfield is currently under the weather and it’s looking like he’s not going to be at 100% when he takes the field on Monday. Of course there is the classic Michael Jordan flu game. It’d be interesting to make athletes compete in some sort of combine while sick and while healthy to see if there’s some sort of percentage drop off. One of the problems of that would be there’s different levels of sick. Maybe give everyone the same virus? I think there’s something there, somewhere.

The Seahawks are vying for a playoff spot tomorrow. Need a win and a Falcons loss to seal the deal. I’m just thankful we get 16 games of competitive football.

I don’t think the Seahawks have the manpower for a legitimate Super Bowl run, so playoffs would just be a bonus.

Good luck and God bless,

Jack Wallner
